Trying new things (IWSG)

I have recently decided to learn how to format an e-book and book for print. Why? Because I can't afford to have my first book professionally formatted and it would be a handy skill for me to learn.

I am definitely very eager to learn, but it is sort of driving me a little crazy. Having to learn to get things just right and all that, but I know I can do it. So this week, learning to format my own book is my insecurity.

The Insecure Writers Support Group was created by the talented Mr. Alex J. Cavanaugh so that writers can share their insecurities and/or encourage others who need support with their own. You can visit Alex Here, or if you want to join us in discussing our insecurities on the first Wednesday of each month, you are welcome to join by going Here.

  1. I know I'm also probably going to end up formatting my own books, but I'm still in denial and procrastinating. ;-)

    1. I know what you mean. I've been putting it off for so long, but finally decided to do it. Don't worry, when it's your time, I'll cheer you on.

  2. Formatting books seems incredibly daunting, but it's simpler than it first appears :)! I had to format my own book for my major project back in uni (as well as my actually novel haha), so if you ever need any help, just give me a shout and I'll be more than happy to try and give you a hand :)!

  3. Hang in there! I actually find it quite satisfying. And it's not that bad once you've got the hang of it.

  4. I may some day join you in this insecurity. If I self-publish, I will indeed SELF-publish. That will be a huge learning curve for me.

  5. Good for you. Learning new skills is important. I found making notes about font sizes, spacing etc was useful - it saved me having to skip back and forth to make sure chapter heading were identical.
